HOW?
A clear pathway...
Step through the pathway. At every stage the responsibility split is already written down — for us, for your teams, and for the residents whose homes are involved.
Week 0–2
One conversation, no commitment
Portfolio fit, eligibility, the commercial model and data protection covered in a single session with the teams who will need to say yes.
- Kettle
- Bring the proposition, the evidence and the open questions.
- Your teams
- Bring stock profile, constraints and the internal approval route.
- Residents
- Not contacted at this stage.
Week 2–6
Written before anyone knocks on a door
Data sharing agreement, DPIA and controller roles agreed in writing. Complaints route and escalation named before any resident hears from us.
- Kettle
- Draft DPIA inputs, security posture and processing detail.
- Your teams
- Legal, DPO and resident-safeguarding sign-off.
- Residents
- Not contacted at this stage.
Week 4–8
Suitability assessed home by home
Space for the unit, electrical installation, tenure and occupancy. We assess jointly rather than assuming a whole portfolio qualifies.
- Kettle
- Technical survey criteria and site assessments.
- Your teams
- Asset data, access arrangements and tenancy context.
- Residents
- Invited to express interest — never charged, always reversible.
Week 6–10
Approved wording, no savings claims
Co-branded pages and materials your team signs off. Plain statements that registering is not a contract and does not guarantee eligibility.
- Kettle
- Draft materials, co-branded page and enquiry handling.
- Your teams
- Approve every word before it reaches a household.
- Residents
- Registers voluntarily, with a route to withdraw at any point.
Week 8–14
Measure before you change anything
An agreed baseline period and an agreed measurement framework, written down before installation so the result stays honest either way.
- Kettle
- Baseline methodology and assumptions, stated in writing.
- Your teams
- Agree the framework the board will later be shown.
- Residents
- Nothing required.
Week 14–20
Fitted, commissioned, explained
Units installed to schedule with maintenance and end-of-life responsibility already assigned rather than left to be worked out later.
- Kettle
- Install, commission, monitor and maintain.
- Your teams
- Access coordination and property assurance.
- Residents
- One appointment, then nothing to remember or operate.
Month 6–12
A decision-grade result — including a negative one
Measured against the baseline you agreed. If the pilot does not work, we report that rather than reframing it.
- Kettle
- Analysis, assumptions and limitations published to you.
- Your teams
- Board-ready evidence for the next decision.
- Residents
- Told what happened in their own home, in plain English.
Indicative timings. Every cohort confirms its own schedule, and participation is subject to eligibility and to contract.
Benefits
The Kettle Energy goals.
Kettle Energy is built to help housing associations create warmer, more affordable and better-performing homes, turning household energy use into clear, actionable insight for residents and your organisation alike. The first pilots will measure how effectively the Kettle platform can deliver value for residents, housing providers and their communities.
01
Help residents manage household energy costs
Give residents clear, real-time insight into their energy use so they can reduce waste, change everyday habits and take greater control of household costs.
02
Strengthen fuel-poverty support
Identify unusual or inefficient consumption patterns and enable earlier, more targeted support for residents struggling to heat and power their homes affordably.
03
Turn energy data into actionable asset insight
Use real-world energy insights to direct investment more effectively, strengthen funding cases and protect the long-term value of housing stock.
04
Support EPC and decarbonisation planning
Measure energy consumption and carbon across housing stock to support EPC improvement plans, sustainability targets and stakeholder reporting.
05
Build resident confidence and engagement
Turn complex energy data into simple, useful guidance that helps residents understand their homes, participate in energy-saving initiatives and recognise the value of energy improvements.
